The Chapter is proud to be involved in educating youngsters about birds and conservation. Some of the ways we are connecting with them are listed below.
We have donated squirrel-proof bird feeders and feeder poles to area elementary schools.

We have donated copies of Birds in Missouri, by Brad Jacobs to area schools.

We sponsor a songbird art contest for local fourth grade students similar to the Junior Duck Stamp Contest. Students create an original drawing or painting of a bird common to the Ozarks while they learn about the natural history of these birds. Luce Myers, an art teacher at Wyman Elementary has been instrumental in this project, writing lesson plans consistent with Missouri school goals. Gifts are given to all students who participate. Prizes are awarded for the best in show and runners-up.

The best way to learn about birds for young and old alike is to go look at 'em!!! Here are some of the chapter members' favorite places to observe our feathered friends.
Lion's Club Park – in Rolla on Highway 63, south of the Highway 72 intersection
Lane Spring
Mill Creek
Little Prairie Lake – near Rolla off I-44. Take the Highway V exit and proceed east on the north outer road. Watch for signs.
