| What is the best bird guide? | This is really a matter of personal preference. Anyone interested in Missouri's birds will enjoy Brad Jacobs' Birds in Missouri, published in 2001 by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Our chapter has a supply of these books for $20. Good field guides (small enough to carry on outings) for beginners are the Golden Guide to Birds of Eastern North America and the Peterson Guides.
